The 2008 Southern Explorer Cover was taken by Agnes, a
16 year old Southbroom Local!

Competition closes on Thursday, January 14th, 2010.

Winners will be announced at the official launch of the new Southern Explorer Route Guide in March, 2010.

The Southern Explorer Association (SEA) offers photographers,
both professional and amateur, the chance
to gain both national and international exposure and
win great prizes at the same time.

What do you love most about the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast?

Can you capture that beauty on camera?

Would you like to see your photo on the cover of the
Southern Explorer 2010 Edition?

The Southern Explorer, The South Coast Herald and South Coast Tourism
are once again teaming up for the annual Southern Explorer Cover Compo!

The best cover may come from any category and will not necessarily be the winner
of that category. The best cover shot will be judged on its attractiveness as a
magazine cover, the orientation, resolution and size of the photo.

Content must be appealing to tourists, as well as an advert for the South Coast
and naturally we are looking for unique, artistic content.

All entries will be posted on our web site www.southernexplorer.co.za.

Our new categories add some excitement to the competition this year. Apart from
aerial and underwater categories, which are, of course, highly specialised, we’ve
added more focus on tourism, with categories like ‘this is africa’ which can be
anything from awesome scenery to hilarious ‘it can only happen in Africa’ moments.

We will not accept any manipulated entries (e.g. Photoshop).

Entries are limited to 20 (twenty) per person, so get clicking, get creative, but most
of all, get out there and have fun exploring the beautiful South Coast!

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. The SEA reserves the right not to award a prize for the cover photo if no entry matches the following basic requirements: Unique content. Relevance to tourism. Photo clarity and quality. Artistic and eye-catching. Orientation portrait. Resolution 300dpi. A4 in Size.
  2. Only photos taken on the South Coast will be considered.
  3. The SEA reserves the right to use the images freely on their website and in any compilation publication at no extra cost.
  4. Only digital submissions will be considered.
  5. An A5 colour print may be requested if your image makes it to the semi-finals.
  6. All entries must be accompanied by your name, contact phone number, email address, category and place where the photo was taken.
  7. Send your entries to: info@southernexplorer.co.za or you may drop off a CD/DVD at the Southern Explorer Office (Riverbend Crocodile Farm, Old Main Road, Southbroom) or the Port Shepstone Tourism Office at the Port Shepstone lighthouse.
  8. Competition closes on Thursday, January 14th, 2010.
  9. Winners will be announced at the official launch of the 2010 route guide in March, 2010. (Details to be announced)
